Day 1 of The 12 Days of Happiful: The #1 Health Rule

Today begins The 12 Days of Happiful, inspired by the idea that the right handful of practices can completely transform your life. There is an overwhelming amount of information, opinions, and advice that leaves most people distracted, confused and paralyzed. 

The 12 Days of Happiful removes that noise and focuses on just a few key practices that consistently produce the greatest improvements in health, productivity, and quality of life. Out of the (literally) hundreds of powerful techniques and practices we teach in our 70+ Happiful lessons, these 11 are the most important.

Each day, you’ll get one essential practice that makes life healthier, calmer, more productive and happier.

On the first day of Happiful, we begin with the single most important habit of all:

Stop putting unhealthy things into your body

You’ll get far more benefit by removing unhealthy things than by eating more healthy foods. No amount of lettuce will offset eating a serving of french fries or a piece of pie.

Foods: Dramatically reduce or eliminate all forms of added sugar (including corn syrup, fructose, sucrose, honey, brown sugar, cane sugar, etc. – it’s all poison to your body). Stop eating processed food – if it comes out of a package, you probably don’t want it. Eliminating processed foods will also help you to reduce eating sugar, since it’s in almost everything, even things marketed as healthy, such as yogurt and cereal. Greatly reduce all simple carbs (bread, pasta, pizza). 

Beverages: Eliminate sweetened drinks and excessive alcohol. 

Instead, eat real, whole foods and drink water. That’s it. You don’t need to count calories or macros, just get rid of the junk and replace it with real food. Simple and sustainable. 

Your energy, mood, and long-term health depend on what you consume. Reducing sugar, simple carbohydrates, processed foods, sweetened drinks, and excessive alcohol will change how you feel within days.
