Wheel of Life

How well-balanced is your life right now?

Imagine your life as a wheel. A well-balanced wheel rolls effortlessly, but a lopsided one? That’s a bumpy ride.

The Wheel of Life is a simple but powerful exercise to check in on your life balance:

  1. Take a blank sheet of paper and put a dot in the center.

  2. Draw 8 short lines radiating out from that dot, each one representing a key part of life:

    • Business/Career

    • Relationships (romantic partner, family, and friends)

    • Health/Fitness

    • Financial

    • Environment/Home

    • Recreation/Fun

    • Personal Development

    • Service/Contributions

  3. For each area, draw the line out a distance from 1 to 10, based on how satisfied you are. One way to think about it is to consider how close you are to your ideal life in that area (1 being low, 10 being fully satisfied/living your ideal life). Be honest with yourself; no one else will ever see this.

  4. Connect the ends of the lines to form your “Wheel of Life.”

Does it look balanced, or are some areas much shorter than others? Many people continue to put their primary focus on the areas where their life is already going well, and fail to work on areas where it needs more improvement. While no one will ever have a perfectly balanced Wheel of Life, if your wheel is quite uneven, your journey through life may feel more like a rough, unpredictable ride.

The good news? You can take control. Start by identifying the areas where you need the most improvement. Small, intentional changes can help bring those areas up and create a more balanced, fulfilling life.
